Mr Oikonomidis graduated from 10th High School of Thessaloniki  and, after national exams, he entered at the Medical School of University of Crete and completed his studies at the University of Thrace in 1998.

During 1998-2000, he worked as a Rural General Practitioner at Health Center of Paleochori in Chalkidiki and later as a registrar in ΒΙΚΑ and General Hospital of Kilkis where he completed his core training in Trauma and Orthropaedics on 2009. During his training he received adequate experience in trauma, sport injuries and hip and knee arthroplasty surgery.

After the completion of core training he worked for 3 hears in National Health System of Greece as Locum Consultant.

On 2014, he moved to the United Kingdom where he worked for 4 years. Initially, he worked for a year as a specialist doctor in Manchester Central University Hospitals, a major trauma center. During this period he dealt with complex trauma cases and focused in Hip and Knee surgery. On 2015 he pursued, for a year, a Post CCT  Fellowship in Knee Surgery at Royal and Broadgreen University Hospitals of Liverpool, followed by Post CCT Hip Fellowship at Royal and Broadgreen University Hospitals of Liverpool, for another 6 months. On 2016 he worked at the Golden Jubillee National Hospital of Glasgow in Scotland where he was trained intensively in Computer Assisted Arthroplasty Surgery. During this period he performed adequate amount of independent operations to be qualified in this technique receiving at the same time the official Certificate (Knee Expert Training Navigation Course of BBRAUN Vienna). During his Fellowships he participated or performed 1712 traumatic and elective cases including Total Joint Arthroplasties (surgical logbook).

In addition, he has been trained in Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine for a year and he is certified doctor of National Center of Emergency Assistance (ΕΚΑΒ).

During the above period he focused on research completing the diploma of M.Sc. in “Medical Research Technology” by Aristotle University Medical School, Thessaloniki, Greece. On 2013 he was awarded a PhD diploma by Aristotle University Medical School, Thessaloniki, Greece, with grade «Excellent».

He participated in 5 papers writing that were published in national and international journals, in 6 podium presentations of international congresses, 40 podium presentations of national congresses, 5 round tables and lectures, in 3 congress’s organizing committees and finally he attended 58 National and International Conferences.

Focusing especially in Continuous Professional Development, he attended 41 national and international courses awarded with related certificates.

During 2010-2014 he was trainer of Paramedic personnel (NHS Ambulance crews) for the National Center of Emergency Assistance, Thessaloniki, Greece and during 2015-2016 he was a teaching faculty in Operative Skills in Orthopaedic Surgery courses of Royal College of Surgeons in Liverpool. From 2010 until today he is official reviewer for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (British Edition) and member of a) European Hip Society, b)Medical Association of Thessaloniki, c)Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery UK (CAOS UK),  d)British Medical Association (BMA), e)General Medical Council (UK), f) Hellenic Association of Arthroscopy and  g)Medecins Du Monde.
